Boubulina is build from sections of an oak tree. The tree came to me in pieces. The pieces were cut to facilitate the removal from its growing site. The piece is hollow and is preserved by the ancient Japanese Shou Sugi Ban treatment of fire scorching. The red oak tree grew locally in Brooklyn NY and was felled by Super Storm Sandy in 2012.
